Terms of use

These are the terms you agree to by using whateverb. They are written plainly on purpose. If something here seems unfair, tell us — we would rather fix it than rely on you not reading it.

1. Who we are

2. Who may use it

Anyone may use whateverb. If you are under 18, please have a parent or guardian agree to these terms with you; if you are under 16, or under whatever age counts as a child where you live, please ask them before creating an account.

3. Your account

Keep your password to yourself and do not let anyone else use your account. Tell us if you think someone has got into it. You are responsible for what happens under your login.

4. What you get

A subscription gives you access to whichever parts of the product your plan covers, for as long as it is paid. We add material over time and occasionally change or retire parts of it. If we remove something substantial that you are paying for, we will tell you.

5. Paying

Payment is taken through PayPal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period at the price shown when you subscribed, until you cancel. Prices are in US dollars.

6. Cancelling and refunds

You can cancel at any time from your account page, in one click, without contacting us or explaining why. When you cancel:

• You are not charged again.
• You keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for — cancelling on day 3 of a month does not take away the other 27 days.
• Nothing is deleted. Your progress is still there if you come back.

We do not automatically refund part-used periods, because you keep the access you paid for. If something has genuinely gone wrong — you were charged twice, or the product did not work — write to us and we will sort it out. If you live somewhere that gives you a statutory right to cancel a distance purchase, that right stands regardless of anything here.

7. What we do not promise

We do not guarantee any particular score, score improvement, or admission outcome. The figures on this site describe how students have performed on material we measured; they are evidence about questions, not a prediction about you. The product is provided as it is, and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

8. The material

The questions, explanations and lessons on whateverb are ours, and every practice question is original to us. You may use them to study. You may not copy, republish, resell or feed them into another product or service, and you may not scrape the site.

9. Fair use of the service

Do not attempt to break the site, get at other people’s accounts or data, bypass payment, or automate access to the material. We may suspend or close an account that does.

10. The community

Anything you post in the community is public: readable by anyone, with or without an account, and findable in search engines. You post under a handle you choose, and your email address and the name on your account are never shown. Posting anonymously hides your handle from other students — it does not hide you from us, because we have to be able to moderate.

Section 2 applies here too, and matters more: if you are under 18, do not post anything that identifies you.

Do not post official test material. SAT questions and passages are copyrighted, and that includes posting part of one. Describe the question in your own words instead — that is more useful to answer anyway. Posts containing copied test material are removed.

Beyond that: no harassment, no pretending to be someone else, no advertising, and nothing illegal. We can hide, delete or pin any post, and suspend an account. We try to be sparing about it, and if we remove something of yours you can ask us why.

Deleting your account deletes your posts. Because a discussion cannot be read once the question has gone, replies other people left on your threads are deleted with them.

11. Ending it

You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We may close an account that breaks these terms; if we do, and you had paid for a period you have not used, we will refund the unused part unless the breach was fraud.

12. Liability

To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the problem arose. Nothing here limits liability for anything that cannot lawfully be limited — including fraud, or death or personal injury caused by negligence.

13. Changes

If we change these terms we will change the date at the top, and tell you if the change is significant. If you do not accept a change, you can cancel and delete your account.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of [TO BE COMPLETED: governing jurisdiction]. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protections of the law where you live.
